After seeing the response (or lack thereof) to last week’s release, this project has been discontinued.  There does not seem to be sufficient demand for actual editing to warrant continuing this process.

After reviewing UTW and Ayako’s releases, we have determined that the quality of editing is still poor.  Though there are only a few typos and punctuation errors, there are still a lot of awkwardly worded sentences.  In UTWs release, it almost looks like the translation was taken verbatim from the translator and simply proofread.  I’m sure plenty of people are happy with the release, but this is for those of you who aren’t.

We have kept the same styles as in our first episode for consistency.  We will change the OP and ED after official lyrics are released.

The complete file is being uploaded at this moment, and will be available as a torrent as soon as the server admin can get to it.  For those who already have UTWs release, the below script can be opened with their encode, simply disable their subtitles and then open these.  There will be no Xvid since we don’t have our own encoder; anyone who wishes is free to make an Xvid and distribute it.

For those of you who haven’t seen it, the latest release of Index from UTW is very encouraging. The editing is much better, the terms and names they used better match what fans of the series are already familiar with, and the ED is more reasonable.

Obviously, if they keep up this level of quality in their work, there won’t be any reason for us to continue what we’re doing here at Editors Anonymous. I do however have one concern: the staff on the project is the same, regardless of whether the release includes a gg tag or not. I wonder if this is a one time fix and whether future releases will revert back to the poor level of editing found in the initial release.

In the event that the quality of UTWs future Index releases maintains the level of excellence seen in this latest release, we will drop the project and wish UTW the best. If quality falls again, we’ll still be here next week, and the next, and the next, to bring you subs the way they should be released.

Regardless of what happens, we appreciate the support we’ve received from all of you. Thank you.

Leeches, subbers, fans, and idlers, the fansubbing community is currently faced with a dilemma.  There is a shortage of translators for shows, and many of these translators are being monopolized by groups whose primary focus is to troll or release sub-par subs as quickly as possible.

Now this is a big show.  It’s in its second season, and even had a spinoff.  Look at the comparison between gg-UTW and Ayako.  Which would you watch?  I would watch neither!  Sure, the translation looks fine, in fact, I’d say gg-UTW’s is spot on, but what is with that editing?  Consistency with the first season? And the ED?  That release just screams “troll.”  I’m sure there are plenty of gg fans that’ll be happy with that release, but what about the rest of the series’ many fans?  The simple fact is that there is no good release for such an awesome show, and it’s because troll groups have their hands on the TLs.  The least they could do with that talent if they are going to work on a decent show is release something decent.

Therefore, we bring you Editors Anonymous.  If you’re willing to wait up to 24 hours, we’ll get you the shows they don’t want to bother putting effort into, but deserve it.  We’ll use their translations—Yes, that’s right, we used gg-UTWs script without their consent, or even their knowledge, edited it to a higher standard than any of their shows reach, and rereleased it, even using their encodes.  Oh, and we abolished that eye cancer they call an ED.

We don’t expect their fans to like us, and with good reason.  After a short wait, you can have better subs than what they can give you, and they are doing 1/2 the work for us.  We hope though that the rest of the community can come to appreciate what we’re doing, and will enjoy this show more for it.

We won’t troll you with our blog.  We won’t troll you with our releases.  What we will do is bring you anime the way the fansub community should bring you anime.  This season, we bring you the 2nd season of Index, because it is the one show we jointly decided deserves the attention the groups subbing it won’t give.  We will try to continue to do so until some semblance of quality returns to the shows we all love.

This episode is a bit later than will be usual since we just formed as a group, but rest assured we will turn future episodes around in under 24 hours.

Without further adieu:

To Aru Majutsu no Index II – 01

Script Only

There is no tl;dr.  tl;dr is for trolls.

PS. Ayako, we don’t think you guys are trolls, but I’m sure you realize you need better editing.  Give this show the love it deserves.
